COURSE PRESENTATION

Admission
Previous knowledge is required for this course. Students who didn’t attend the first-year course Modern Greek 1, can attend this class if they have some basic knowledge of Greek. More specifically, students who want to attend this course should have already achieved the basic communication level in Greek. They must be able to ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics. They must be able to use simple phrases and sentences to describe themselves, where they live and people they know.

Objectives:
The course is conformed to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the requirements set by the Centre of the Greek Language for the Greek Language Certification (Ellinomatheia).

Knowledge:by completion of the course students will be able to use Greek in the A2 level of communication.
Skill/Ability: By completion of this course students will be able to understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment). They will be able to understand messages and announcements. They will be able to find specific predictable information in simple everyday material and understand simple personal letters.
Quality:Theaimofthiscourseistohelpstudentslearntotalkabout familiar topics and activities. They will learn how to talk about things they find interesting (e.g. literature, cinema, personal matters or problems). They will also learn how to express their opinion about various topics using basic sentences and phrases. At the same time, they will acquire basic information about Greek history and culture.

Program:
Lessons will completely be held in Greek. During the first courses repetitions will be made according to the first-year teaching material.

Bibliography:
It is of the utmost importance that students have their textbooks since the first day of classes.

Ελληνικά για σας (Il Greco per voi, A1 and A2). This book will be the basic course material for the course. Students should purchase the book early enough so that they will have it in the first class (Information could be provided by the Institute or the teacher).
Whenever is necessary teacher will provide the students with videos, audio files, and other type of files, other book materials or information about websites. Some extra material will be from the books: «Κλικ στα Ελληνικά», «Επικοινωνήστε Ελληνικά», «Άκου να δεις», «Ταξίδι στην Ελλάδα».

TITLES RELEASED

– Students who have attended at least 75% of class hours may obtain a course completion certificate.

ACADEMIC FEES

The total amount of the course fees is of € 490.
