COURSE PRESENTATION

Admission
The course may be attended by:
– those who have attended at least 75% of lesson hours at the course Latinitas Viva 1;
– those who, having sound knowledge of Latin, are able to pass the exam based on the syllabus of Latinitas Viva 1 even without having attended classes. The exam will be structured in three parts: (a) grammatical competences, (b) comprehension of a written text without the dictionary, (c) writing of a text in Latin.

Objectives:
– Understanding of a Latin text, even of high difficulty, without using the dictionary
– In-depth knowledge of the Latin grammar
– Knowledge of the 2000 most frequent words in Latin Classical literature
– Focus on Latinitas Christiana
– Ability to write and speak in Latin

Program:
The course fulfills and completes the study of Latin grammar and phraseology started in the course Latinitas Viva 1. Lessons will be held completely in Latin, following the fundamentals of the inductive-contextual methodology. Renewing the Church’s tradition in the teaching of Latin and using the most advanced techniques for the teaching of modern languages, the active use of Latin language both by the students and the teacher turns passive learning into an active competence, thus ensuring a sound knowledge of the language.
