COURSE INFORMATION

After the many projects carried out at numerous universities in Italy and abroad, the IICS has decided to extend its offer for the summer period also to high school students.
During the course period (two weeks) we will teach all the main topics of Latin grammar and students will be led to learn a large number of words.
The aim of the course is to provide students with the skills to translate a Latin text in a short time* and without using a dictionary.

The course is characterized by the use of Latin as the sole language of communication. The inductive-contextual method employed ensures a more effective and rapid pace for learning grammar, vocabulary and phraseological nexus, indispensable instruments for a solid and authentic knowledge of the language.

* The average time taken by students who have completed our courses to translate a Latin text in the graduation exam is 27 minutes.

COURSE PEDAGOGY

Lessons take place from 10:00 to 13:30 from Monday to Friday (+ on Tuesday and Thursday from 14:30 to 16:00) and cover all the main grammatical structures in addition to the 1000 most frequently used words in Latin literature.
Our teaching method consists of moments alternating between lecture-based lessons and oral and written language-usage exercises, accompanied by activities that call for students’ direct involvement and active participation.

Students are required for 15 minutes a day for home study.
